The East Kootenay P.A.R.T.Y. (Prevent Alcohol and Risk Related Trauma in Youth) is a reality based 'choices' education program. The goal is to provide Grade 10 Students from Golden, Invermere, Kimberley, Cranbrook and Jaffray with information about trauma that will enable them to recognize potential injury-producing situations, make prevention-orientated choices, and adopt behaviours that minimize unnecessary risk. The personal assets developed through P.A.R.T.Y. help youth become more accountable and responsible community members.
The P.A.R.T.Y. program has been an integral part in our community since 1998. The program would not exist without the generous support from within the communities it serves. Dedicated emergency and health care professionals, RCMP, Ambulance Services, Search and Rescue, Fire Department, program volunteers, teachers, and survivor speakers are irreplaceable and have been with the program since its inception. The community itself serves as the financial support to keep this program in place year after year.
East Kootenay Realty has taken on the role of Administration Support for the program. The company has seen the positive impact of the P.A.R.T.Y. Program and has donated office area and administrational services to add some stability to the program. The P.A.R.T.Y. Program still relies on the generous funding of businesses and corporations, individuals, school districts, regional district, RCMP and service clubs to operate.
Anne Crawford, Program Coordinator, thanks the staff at East Kootenay Realty for their support and looks forward to meeting with all of the generous financial supporters of the program.
